Coahuiltecans

The Coahuiltecans settled in the lowlands of Mexico and southern Texas. They ate deer, buffalo, peccary, rabbits, rats and mice, various birds, and numerous species of snakes,lizards, frogs, and snails.Their economy was mostly based on hunting. They were nomadic. During the Spanish and colonial period, many of these natives were displaced from their traditional territories by Spaniards. The Coahuilteacan area was one of the poorest regions in the Indian North America. As the Spaniards advanced, they displaced the various Coahuilteacan tribes. European diseases also effected the Coahuiltecans. They suffered smallpox and the measlesThe Coahuiltecans died off the fastest because of the obstacles they faced.
