Wichita mean racoon eyes. They seperated from the other Caddo people early in their history. They were located in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas (great plains region). They ate deer, elk, rabbit, antelope, bear, corn, beans, squash, tobacco, and buffalo. They had a mixed economy of nomadic wanderings and farming. Their villages were usually situated near rivers. Since they were nomadic, they used skin tepees on the road. They accompanied the Comanche in the attack on the spanish.
